Project title: Sustained Indian Ocean Biogeochemistry and Ecosystem Research- SIBER Funded by Ministry of Earth Sciences-Govt ofIndia.
Research Theme : The overarching goal of the SIBER program is to motivate and coordinate international interest in Indian Ocean research inorder to improve our understanding of the role of the Indian Ocean in global biogeochemical cycles . The Indian theme was to predict the role of Hydrobiological studies in Vellar estuary and Coleroonecosystem.
Researchmentor: Dr. T.Balasubramanian
Centre of Advanced Study in Marine Biology, Annamalai University, Parangipettai, Tamilnadu
Research Highlights: Analyse the water and sediment nutrients load in the estuaries of Vellar and Coleroon a tropical estuaries in south east coast ofIndia. The samples were taken accordingly to the respective seasons like the Premonsoon, summer, monsoon, postmonsoon.
Doctoral research:
Title ofResearch Production and characterization of laccase enzyme from Aspergillus nidulans and its ability on degradation of Anthracene compound(PAH).
ResearchHighlights Isolation of laccase producing marine fungi , production of
the enzymes by solid substrate fermentation.
Characterization and Optimization studies by using the RSM
(Response surface Methodology). Bioremediation of
polycyclic aromatic Hydrocarbons using the Lignocellulosic
enzymes.
Duration Nov2010-Sept2015
